Subconscious emotional addiction vs. logic

Choices weighed against our emotional addictions are fueled by a desire for certain experiences. Choices weighed against logic are fueled by a desire for results that secure a certain set of conditions. Thus, man is simply driven by desire, an emotional motivator. In most instances, desire is either seeking comfort in the emotional experiences we are most familiar with or it is seeking another taste of rarer emotions that were once felt.

The desire for comfort and familiarity provides a sense of stability that fuels confidence and a foundation that gives us the courage to seek the rarer and riskier experiences that offer us heightened rewards (new emotional combinations) and progress in our lives. However, within this fundamental concept, we have to consider how healthy this sense of stability & foundation are. If the emotional experiences we are used to are of negative or dysfunctional origin, it will provide for an unhealthy emotional foundation and fuel poor, destructive choices hindering personal progress.

The ability to balance between these motivators and recognize the real impact they have is key in decision making throughout life. So, detaching from our emotions to analyze and possibly change these motivators can help us fine tune our motivators to be more in line with our long-term goals.

So ultimately, consider that the emotional rewards like desire, comfort, & pleasure doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing the right thing. Conversely, discomfort, pain, & struggle doesn’t mean you’re doing the wrong thing. Detach the emotion and study it objectively.

Chew on that for a while.

Paganism, Part VI; ‘Yule’

Paganism, Part VI; ‘Yule’.

Here’s a good video on traditional roots from a controversial man. But, before you discard anything simply based on any potential distaste you may have for any controversy, you should realize that truth is truth regardless of the messenger or method of delivery.

It’s important to keep in touch with our cultural  & spiritual heritage. I’m from germanic tribe descent so maybe it means a little more to me but many here in the states are of European descent. If not, it’s still a valuable lesson in manipulation through religion.

Happy Yule, everyone!
